Beyond Smart Cities
Until yesterday, linear perception is evolving towards holographic view today.
Hello dear readers, authors and editors who supported us during the publication process, and our distinguished referees, whose number exceeds thousands.
Agricultural, industrial, information society and, as I have called it for more than ten years, the cybersapience society, are moving past Toffler’s third wave, passing Industry 4.0 and then moving towards Industry 5.0.
The world, which we have viewed as planar until now, has turned into a micro holographic universe within a quarter of a century. In thought and design, preparations are being made to move horizontal and vertical spaces to toroidal structures, and toroidal structures to the etheric and energy-cyclic dimension through augmented reality. On the other hand, while the average human lifespan is getting longer, social security solutions that try to overcome this reality are on the agenda. As our species, which continues to increase in population, begins to no longer fit into the planet, searches are being made for the optimum demographic scale on an area basis. The population reduction predicted in Guedestone, on the one hand, and technology rapidly advancing towards immortality, on the other hand, puts the people of the world in a dilemma with their environment.
Smart systems introduced in the urban area, combined with artificial intelligence and the rapid development in the storable energy sector, begin to turn upside down everything that was planar and 3rd dimensional from yesterday. The world’s giant automobile companies have already started to launch flying motor vehicles. Within 10 years at most, urban planning, landscaping, transportation planning, etc. The routines of the disciplines are being disrupted and designs made with planar and physical facts and entities are about to be replaced by liquid designs consisting of semi-reality. While all these are destroying yesterday’s realities one by one, the universal process is pushing universal truths.
Our task is to try to keep up with this pace by anticipating new developments as much as possible. The ancient and classical scientific knowledge and thought system will inevitably get its share of this change.
In the first issue of 2024
Our 59th publication also marks the turning point of our bimonthly publication process, in which we started publishing 6 issues a year.
This issue of the Urban Academy contains 17 articles about the city from different perspectives. Our 67 referees, who are assigned to evaluate articles suitable for their fields of study from different universities from every region of our country, have made great contributions to the scientific quality of the published articles. We have 10 editors who spend their valuable time at the editorial board meetings where all these efforts are combined, offering ideas to always improve the quality of our journal.
Each article process is carried out to ensure the publication quality of Journal of Urban Academy; With the principle of respect for labor, it is not only author-oriented; We work with an editor, referee and author-friendly approach. We would like to thank all the scientists who contributed to the creation of our issue.
