Sustainable Development and Urban

To the new century, with a new publishing period!

Dear readers, writers, field editors who supported us during the publication process, and our distinguished referees, whose number exceeds thousands.

While till these days there was always the usual regularity of uncertainties about the future, after the second quarter of the 2000s, the prediction of the future that awaits humankind has never been this difficult from prehistory to today. Because in those times, there were no large-scale macro variables regarding the basic building block of our earth. Additionally, there was no data on exoplanets, the universe, or even (possible) universes. However, during these years and beyond, the existence of these data and the uncertainties of this existence scare us more than ever. On the other hand, the natural and artificial disasters awaiting humanity are getting bigger as the world gets smaller. Extraterrestrial beings, global magnetic disasters, electricity and electronics lost in the techno sphere seem to leave us even more helpless…

For this reason, the uncertainties in urban areas, whose physical and demographic density continues to increase, and the shock effects and aftershocks of possible disasters (magnetic storms, power outages, cyber global attacks) force us to be more resilient regarding the city. For this reason, we would like to devote our upcoming issues to the theme of “sustainable development and the urban”. In fact, within the scope of this theme, we expect these issues to be focused on in the third and / or fourth issue of 2024.

We are together with you in 2024, publishing six issues a year (bimonthly).

We are again together with our 58th publication.

As you know, our publication period until now was four issues per year. First of all, we would like to thank our readers and writers for their trust in our magazine. Our Editorial Board was not indifferent to this favour and, in accordance with its decision dated 05/01/2023 and numbered S:54/2023/1/1, the publication period was changed to six issues per year (every two months) and this change will come into force as of the same date in 2024. We made a decision and shared this decision with you in our announcement’s menu on the same day, 05/01/2023. The day has come and by publishing the first issue of 2024 on January 15, 2024, we will start the new publishing order for 2024 and beyond.

During these processes, the works of our article writers who have been accepted and are waiting for publication due to the huge number of articles will not be postponed to three months later, and the writer whose article has been accepted will have the opportunity to publish at least two months later. In this context, the contraction in the publication period will also be reflected in the evaluation processes, and our evaluation processes will be carried out more quickly. The earliest publication time for an article submitted for publication in our journal has been reduced to two months, if it is uploaded 1.5 months before the regular publication.

Our journal has started to be scanned in EBSCO HOST, Academic Search Ultimate Database, as of the second half of 2023.

This issue of Urban Academy contains 33 articles about the urban / city from different perspectives. In our issue, which brought together the valuable author of the scientific world, 16 section editors from different fields of science carried out the process. Our 176 referees, who are assigned to evaluate articles suitable for their fields of study from different universities from every region of our country, have made great contributions to the scientific quality of the published articles. We have 10 editors who spend their valuable time at the editorial board meetings where all these efforts are combined, offering ideas to always improve the quality of our journal.

Each article process is carried out to ensure the publication quality of Journal of Urban Academy; With the principle of respect for labor, it is not only author-oriented; We work with an editor, referee and author-friendly approach. We would like to thank all the scientists who contributed to the creation of our issue.

Stay well, with the hope of meeting you with new achievements and good news in each new issue.
